Followers RB Leipzig also missed a win after front runner FC Bayern’s draw. The team of coach Julian Nagelsmann cannot get beyond a draw at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Sachsen-Klub missed out on points with the Munich team.
RB Leipzig stumbled upon the front runner Bayern Munich. The team of coach Julian Nagelsmann did not take advantage of the Munich team and continued their negative streak against feared opponents Eintracht Frankfurt with the 1-1 (0: 1) in the top game of the Bundesliga. The record champions, who on Saturday afternoon also failed to beat Werder Bremen 1: 1, remain two points ahead of Leipzig.
Three days before the Champions League hit at Paris St. Germain, Frankfurt’s Aymen Barkok (43rd) missed the mood in Saxony. The guests did not succeed more than the equalization by Yussuf Poulsen (57th) – even after the sixth attempt, Leipzig is waiting for a victory at Eintracht. In the duel with Neymar and Co. on Tuesday (9 p.m. / Sky) in the Prinzenpark, it needs an increase.
Sörloth storms from the start
Nagelsmann had finally demanded the first victory at the Hessians before the game. In general, RB Leipzig have never performed well there, said the RB coach: “It’s time to change that.” In return, Nagelsmann surprisingly sent Alexander Sörloth into the race from the start – despite the corona whirlwind in the Norwegian national team.
The attacker (4th) appeared at the first chance of the Leipzig in front of the gate. The guests then slowly increased the pressure, laid out the Frankfurters and checked what was happening. However, there was a lack of determination in the degrees. Amadou Haidara’s (6th) shot was blocked, Dani Olmo (15th), who had humiliated the DFB-Elf with Spain during the weeks, lifted it.
Kluivert comes, victory no longer succeeds
The team of coach Adi Hütter, which again had to do without midfield engine Sebastian Rode, initially did mainly defensive work. Only after a header from Martin Hinteregger (22nd) did Eintracht become more uncomfortable – at the expense of the level of play. The encounter became tougher, both teams got caught up in duels in midfield. Before the break, Angelino (35th) and Dayot Upamecano (36th) reported again in the Frankfurt penalty area. But the lead was achieved by the home team through Barkok, who took advantage of Leipzig’s first negligence in his starting line-up this season.
Nagelsmann reacted, brought Emil Forsberg and Poulsen to the second half for more offensive power – with success. The Dane brought Leipzig back with his first dangerous action. Frankfurt came under increasing pressure after conceding. Filip Kostic, who was last sorely missed, only provided little relief on the left side. Leipzig, however, did not capitalize on the fact that unity was losing its strength. The momentum of the equalization was lost with increasing playing time. In the final phase, Nagelsmann demanded more determination on the way forward and replaced youngster Justin Kluivert.
